The Drama League has announced the recipients of its prestigious special awards for 2025, with Tony Award-winning actress and Broadway star Lea Salonga as one of the honorees.
With the ceremony set to take place on May 16 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, the acclaimed Kim of “Miss Saigon” will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award.
Salonga, a celebrated figure in the theater community not just in the Philippines but worldwide, made her Broadway debut in 1991, earning acclaim for her Tony-winning performance as Kim in “Miss Saigon.”

The annual awards event celebrates outstanding achievements in theater, both on and off Broadway and will feature seven competitive categories alongside several special citations.
This was after a lawmaker called for better deployment of renewables in the market.
In addition to her upcoming honor, Salonga is set to appear in the highly anticipated spring 2025 transfer of the Stephen Sondheim revue “Old Friends.”
ADVERTISEMENTFurthermore, she will reprise her role as The Witch in Theatre Group Asia’s upcoming production of “Into the Woods,” which is scheduled to premiere this August at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in the Philippines.
This reprised role marks her return to the Philippine musical stage after a six-year hiatus, and fans are eagerly awaiting her performance.

mobile phone casinoIn addition to Salonga, the Drama League Awards will honor other notable figures in the theater industry, including Whitney White, who will receive the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing, and Kate Navin, along with Audible Theater, who will be recognized with the Contribution to the Theater Award.
